November 1, 2008

On Saturday, November 1st, 2008, at 10:00AM, Friends of St. John’s Historic Cemetery celebrated its 8th Annual All Saints Day.

We were pleased to welcome back two members of the Clergy who participated in past Friends observances of All Saints Day:

The Very Reverend Jack Gray, VF, Rector of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Pensacola, who offered the prayers in 2003 and blessed the baby section in 2004.

The Reverend Bob Graves, Priest Associate, Christ Episcopal Church, Pensacola who was a participant in the first and second celebrations and is remembered for his eloquent description of St. John's as "These are hallowed grounds"

In addition we extended a warm welcome to Mitzi Holt who also returned to provide us with her time and talent with the musical part of the program.

We extended appreciation to Boy Scout Troop 10 of First Baptist Church for its help with the program.

We were truly blessed to have all of them with us on this day.

Special guests for the occasion were members of the local chapter of the International OrganizationQuestors who have a deep interest in historic preservation and adopted our Baby Section as a project. We also thanked the Rotary Club of Gulf Breeze for the many hours of work in erecting the fence in the Baby Section. The material for the fencing was provided by the Questors.
